Exciting news! I have a new blog series in the works that I think you are all going to really enjoy! I will "unveil" it soon but just to wet your appetite a bit I can tell you that there may or may not be (wink, wink) some pretty awesome special guest writers, there may be a freebie or two involved, and "we" may be giving away some great prizes! Okay that's all the hints you get for now;)
How many of you have started back to school already? Where I'm from here in Michigan most schools don't start back until after Labor Day. Whether you are back at it or just getting ready for the new school year I hope you will find these freebies helpful!
This week's 5 fabulous freebies cover social studies, science, language arts, clipart, and math. They range from kindergarten all the way to high school! How's that for variety!
I love how well thought out this freebie is! Not only did Debbie come up with some fun student activity pages but she also did the brainstorming for us with TONS of examples! She writes, "Seasons affect our daily life - which is what Social Studies is about! Climate, weather and the change of the seasons affect where people choose where to live and their different types of work, food, celebrations and recreation. Plants and animals also change their ways with the seasons. All students can bring their experiences to these lessons."
Here's a great one from Tolu Noah for all you upper elementary, middle school and high school teachers! This set of posters can be enlarged and displayed on your classroom walls to remind students of proper discussion protocols. The first poster, Meaningful Conversations, provides students with sentence starters that they can use when engaging in discussions. The second poster, Justifying Your Thoughts, provides students with sentence starters that they can use to provide textual evidence to support their ideas.
How can you not like her with a name like that? You will want to hug Mrs. Hug-a-Bug after downloading this freebie! NATURE GRAB.....on your marks, get set, GO! This is a fun, fast, hands on version of the traditional nature walk scavenger hunt! Children cut and assemble the attached Nature Grab Box template, and then race to fill their boxes with the 12 things listed on the outside… (a small rock or pebble, 2 different flowers, a twig with 3 branches, a leaf with rough edges etc) Excellent outdoor activity for a sunny Summer afternoon!
Denise from Dancing Crayon Designs is one creative lady! Her little crayon man is so stinkin' cute! She has this fabulous freebie that includes, "8 Free Borders: Simple yet stylish borders that won't clutter your page and won't use a ton of printer ink!" What a great idea! Everyone loves a good border to dress up their page but we don't want to use up too much ink. Here is the perfect solution!
Diana from Happy Teaching Happy Kids created this fun back to school activity perfect for grades K-2! Your new class will have fun with two levels of math codes, one with a letter-number match and one with addition problems for increased challenge. Each level includes four math codes that all feature positive back to school messages your class will enjoy!
