My farming friend sent me a link to this website and told me I had to check it out. Who doesn't love free lesson plans? So I checked it out and thought there were some great resources to share with all of you. If you are a Michigan teacher you will also appreciate that these lesson plans are aligned with the Michigan state standards. This website, the Michigan Farm Bureau's website, includes grade specific lesson plans for kindergarten up to sixth grade in the areas of language arts, math, science, social studies, and health. All of the lesson plans are related to agriculture. Many of the lesson plans also include student activity pages with answer keys. These would be great supplemental pages to use with your students even if you don't teach agriculture. For example, one lesson plan for grades 2-3 entitled, "Corny Math Facts", teaches students facts about corn (such as how tall it can grow, how many cans of soda one bushel can sweeten, etc.) while they compare numbers and identify odd and even numbers. There are also some fun science activity lesson plans such as growing and graphing soy beans. Check them out for yourself! Click on the links below to go to the website.
